Privacy policy

Draft pending legal review. This page will change before Skybird opens to the public.
What this covers
This policy explains what Skybird collects through this website and its live map, and how we use it.
Information you give us
The live map does not need an account. When you review a call, we keep your review and any corrections you make to transcripts, call types or addresses.
If you sign in, we keep your name and email address. If you write to us, we keep your message so we can answer it.
Information from public sources
Skybird listens to unencrypted fire department radio and turns dispatches into incident records: call type, location, units, timing, audio and transcripts. Calls identified as medical are deleted automatically and are never shown.
Property details come from public assessor records published by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (MassGIS) and the City of Boston.
How we use it
To run the map and the receiver network, to measure and improve accuracy, and to keep the service healthy. Reviews and corrections are used to measure and train the system. We do not sell personal information.
Who processes it
We use service providers for hosting, sign-in, maps, speech recognition and language models. They process data on our behalf and only to provide those services.
Retention and security
We keep incident records and reviews to show history and to improve accuracy. Access to the systems is limited to the people who run them, and data is encrypted in transit.
Your choices
You can ask us to correct or remove information about you. A contact address will be listed here before Skybird opens to the public.
